Rome (Agence Fides) - Le Conseil Pontifical pour le dialogue Interreligieux a publié, par la Salle de Presse du Saint-Siège, le communiqué suivant concernant la Rencontre entre la Délégation du Conseil Pontifical pour le Dialogue Interreligieux, et la Délégation musulmane. Voici le texte de ce Communiqué :

« A la lumière de la Lettre Ouverte ‘A Common Word’ signée par 138 spécialistes musulmans, et de la réponse du Pape Benoît XVI, par l’intermédiaire du Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, Secrétaire d’Etat, une Délégation de cinq signataires de la Lettre a rencontré une Délégation composée de cinq membres du Conseil Pontifical pour le Dialogue Interreligieux, dans les bureaux de ce même Conseil, les mardi 4 mars et mercredi 5 mars 2008.

« Les participants catholiques étaient : le Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, Président du Conseil pour le Dialogue Interreligieux, S. Exc. Mgr Pier Luigi Celata, Archevêque titulaire de Doclea, Secrétaire du Conseil Pontifical pour le Dialogue Interreligieux ; Mgr Khaled Akasheh, chef de service pour l’Islam du Conseil Pontifical pour le dialogue Interreligieux ; le Père Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot, M.C.C.J., Responsable de l’Institut Pontifical d’Etudes Arabes et d’Islamisme ; le Professeur Christian W. Troll, S.J., invité, Université Pontificale Grégorienne.

Les participants musulmans étaient : le Cheikh professeur Abdal Hakim Murad, Président du Muslim Academic Trust, UK ; le Professeur Aref Ali Nayed, Directeur du Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Center, Amman, Jordanie ; le Docteur Jbrahim Kalin, Fondation SETA, Ankara, Turquie ; l’Imam Yahya Pallavicini, Vice-président Co.Re.Is (Communauté Religieuse Islamique), Italie ; Monsieur Sohail Nakhooda, Directeur de l’Islamic Magazine, Amman en Jordanie.

« Pour développer ultérieurement le dialogue entre musulmans et catholiques, les participants se sont mis d’accord sur la création d’un « Forum catholique et musulman » et sur l’organisation d’un premier séminaire qui se tiendra à Rome du 4 au 6 novembre 2008. Y participeront vingt-quarre religieux et spécialistes des deux religions. Le thème sera le suivant : « Amour de Dieu, Amour du prochain ». Les sous-thèmes seront les suivants : le premier jour « Fondements théologiques et spirituels » ; le deuxième jour « Dignité humaine et respect réciproque » ; enfin, le troisième jour, le Séminaire se terminera par une Session publique. Les participants seront reçus par le Pape Benoît XVI ».

Statement from the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue on the Catholic-Muslim Forum

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue, through the Holy See Press Office, issued the following statement on the Catholic-Muslim forum: In the light of the open letter "A Common Word" signed by 138 Muslim scholars, and of Benedict XVI's response through Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone S.D.B., a delegation of five signatories of that letter met with five representatives of the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue in the Vatican on 4 and 5 March.

A communique made public today and signed by the heads of the two delegations, Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran and by Sheikh Abdal Hakim Murad, states that, "in order to further develop Catholic-Muslim dialogue, the participants agreed to establish the 'Catholic-Muslim Forum' and to organise the first seminar of the forum in Rome from 4 to 6 November 2008".

That meeting will be attended by 24 religious leaders and scholars from each side. The theme will be "Love of God, Love of Neighbour" and the sub-themes "Theological and Spiritual Foundations" and "Human Dignity and Mutual Respect". The seminar will conclude with a public session on 6 November and the participants will be received by Pope Benedict XVI.

The participants in this month's meeting were, on the Catholic side, Cardinal Tauran, Archbishop Pier Luigi Celata and Msgr. Khaled Akasheh, respectively president, secretary and head officer for Islam of the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue; Fr. Miguel Angel Ayuso Guixot M.C.C.J., president of the Pontifical Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies; and Fr. Christian W. Troll S.J., visiting professor at the Pontifical Gregorian University.

On the Muslim side, the meeting was attended by Sheikh Murad, president of the Muslim Academic Trust, UK; Professor Aref Ali Nayed director of the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre, Amman, Jordan; Dr. Ibrahim Kalin of the SETA Foundation, Ankara, Turkey; Imam Yahya Pallavicini, vice-president of CO.RE.IS.
