A Public Day Of Reflection And Prayer For Our Nation In All Dioceses
On Sunday: 19th February 2006.
My Lords Bishops
The Association of Religious in Uganda (ARU) are invited by their Superiors to a day of prayer and reflection , on Sunday 19th February, 2006, in view of the coming elections day, as per the following statement:
INVITATION: We invite all religious and all seekers of peace-in-justice and brotherhood for our country to a public day of reflection and prayer for our Nation in all Dioceses on Sunday: 19th February 2006.
We hope that this action will keep up the awareness of our people so that a free and fair election process may take place.
It is as a follow up on your letter Towards a Democratic and Peaceful Uganda based on the Common Good, and on other public statements by various authorities.
We believe in the need to rely on the power of God, to turn the hearts of people towards truth and reconciliation.
The religious are invited to pray in their chapels and if possible to encourage other Christians to join them or to pray in their Churches. They are invited to reflect on the common good.
That is why, in the name of the ARU-JPIC Commission (Justice and Peace and Integrity of Creation), I humbly ask Your Lordships for the endorsement of our initiative.
Yours respectfully in Christ.
Fr. Henri Valette M.Afr
