Mort brutale du Père Martin Addai M.Afr à Nairobi Samedi 10 Mars 2007
Nous venons d'apprendre la mort brutale d'un de nos confrères,
le P. Martin ADDAI, Ghanéen, 46 ans. Il était le recteur
de notre séminaire de théologie à Nairobi. Samedi après-midi,
il allait rendre visite à des amis, quand tout près du séminaire,
des bandits l'ont arrêté et lui ont tiré dessus. Il semble
être mort sur le coup. Son corps a ensuite été jeté
sur le bord de la route et ses assaillants sont partis avec la voiture qui
aurait été retrouvée hier soir. Nous n'avons pas plus
d'informations pour le moment.
Martin Addai avait été ordonné en 1990 et avait travaillé
en paroisse au Mozambique, dans le diocèse de Chimoio. De 93 à
96 il avait fait une licence de théologie morale à Rome, puis
une année de spiritualité au Canada. De retour au Mozambique
il avait enseigné au Grand Séminaire de Maputo. Ensuite il était
devenu recteur du Philisophicum à Ejisu (Ghana) jusqu'en 2004. Membre
élu du Chapitre Général de 2004, il était ensuite
parti à Nairobi.

Brutal death of one of our confreres, Martin ADDAI
We have just learned of the brutal death of one of our confreres, Martin ADDAI, Ghanaian, 46 years of age. He was Rector of our Theology Seminary in Nairobi. On Saturday afternoon, he was going to visit friends when, very close to the seminary, he was held up by robbers who shot him. It seems he died on the spot. His body was then thrown onto the side of the road and the assailants escaped with the vehicle, which would have been recovered last night. We have no more details for the moment.
Martin Addai was ordained in 1990 and had been active in parish work in Chimoio
Diocese, Mozambique. From 1993-1996 he studied for a licentiate in Moral Theology
at Rome, then did a year of spirituality in Canada. Back in Mozambique, he
lectured at Maputo Major Seminary. Then he became Rector of the Philosophicum
at Ejisu, Ghana, till 2004. He was an elected member of the 2004 Chapter and
then left for Nairobi.
