MORT TRAGIQUE DU P. MARTIN ADDAI
La Société des Missionnaires d’Afrique (Pères Blancs) a le grand regret d’annoncer la mort tragique du P. Martin Addai. Le P. Martin, du Ghana, était le Recteur de la maison de formation des Missionnaires d’Afrique à Nairobi (South B) depuis 2005 jusqu’au jour de sa mort.
Le samedi 10 mars 2007 le P. Martin a quitté la maison en voiture vers 14h00 avec l’intention de passer prendre un ami ghanéen à l’Hotel Panari avant de continuer pour une réunion afin de célébrer la fête du 50ème anniversaire de l’Indépendance du Ghana. Mais il n’y est jamais arrivé. A 14h30 un passant en voiture sur la route qui mène de la Mombasa Road à l’Enterprise Road a signalé à la police qu’il avait vu jeté d’une voiture le corps de quelqu’un, après quoi la voiture est partie à toute vitesse vers la Mombasa Road. Martin avait été abattu. La police est venue chercher le corps pour le mettre à la morgue. L’absence du P. Martin a été remarquée le dimanche et les membres de la communauté ont commencé à s’inquiéter. Ils ont signalé son absence à la police et peu de temps après, nous avons reçu la triste nouvelle de son décès.
Nous attendons toujours des renseignements concernant le voyage du Ghana des membres de la famille de Martin. Dès que nous le saurons, nous déciderons de la date des obsèques et nous vous tiendrons au courant le plus tôt possible.

TRAGIC DEATH OF FR. MARTIN ADDAI
The Society of the Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers) regret to announce
the tragic death of Fr. Martin Addai. Fr. Martin, from Ghana, was the rector
of the Missionaries of Africa formation house in Nairobi (South B) from 2005
up till the time of his death.
On Saturday 10th March 2007, Fr. Martin left the house by car
at around 2 pm. with the intention of picking up a Ghanaian friend from the
Panari Hotel and proceeding to a party to celebrate the 50th anniversary of
Ghana's Independence. However he did not arrive. At 2.30 a passer-by who was
driving along the road which goes from Mombasa Road to Enterprise Road reported
to the police that he had seen a body being thrown out of a car, which then
sped off towards the Mombasa Road. Martin had been shot. The police came and
took his body to the city mortuary. It was on Sunday that his absence became
a cause of concern for the community. They reported his absence to the police
and shortly afterwards we were given the tragic news of his death.
We are still waiting for information as to when members of Martin's
family will be able to get here from Ghana. Once we know that, we shall decide
on the date of the burial and we shall circulate that information immediately.
