C . Apostolate in response to the
Church's specific needs:
1.
Formation of catechists and men and women community leaders.
Some
Missionaries of Africa form part of a formation team at the South
Africa Pastoral Centre, Lumko.
In Mozambique, there is the Pastoral Centre of Nazare
In all parishes staffed by Missionary of Africa communities, a
special attention is paid to the ongoing formation and animation of
catechists and other committed laypeople.
2.
Forming Christians and communities in view of the apostolate of Encounter
with Muslims.
Bamako, Mali, has the Faith and Encounter Centre, (Josef Stamer).

3. Forming Christians in view of social commitment (Justice an Peace)
Kanengo, Lilongwe, Malawi, Centre
for Social Concern, (Jos Cuppens).
4. Forming future Missionaries.
Together
with a number of other Congregations and Societies of Apostolic Life,
Missionaries of Africa contribute to the formation of future Missionaries
in Nairobi, (Tangaza), Arusha, (Spiritan Philosophy
Institute), Jinja (Philosphy Consortium Jinja). They are also
in Bukavu, (Our Lady of Africa Seminary with the Carmelites,
in view of a Consortium), Ouagadougou, (Maison Lavigerie with
Don Orione and the Missionaires des Campagnes) Ejisu (Spiritan
Philosophy Institute). (Our Houses of Formation)
Language Centres in Falaje (I. Ascensio and V. Doutreuwe),
at Kipalapala, Tanzania (W.Schoofs, C.Akkermans), Ilondola, Zambia
(H.van der Steen).
It is worth noting that around fifty Missionaries of Africa are involved
in training the 400 young people with us in Missionary Formation.
5. Forming African clergy and ongoing formation
of Religious.
A certain number of Missionaries of Africa teach in Major
Seminaries,

Others
are at national or regional level, (Mater Christi with B. Delay
and J. Cauvin),
or
at the level of particular Congregations who help in ongoing formation.
